At Home:
Think about how much waste you produce daily, then REDUCE, RECYCLE, REUSE!
Use ONLY low-energy bulbs. They use up to 80% less power and last 10 times more than the traditional ones.
Turn OUT the heaters when you air your home. Don’t eat up the exterior.
Low Down the thermostat at least by one degree. 20 to 21 degrees are sufficient for a home.
Make sure that all the electrical household appliances and the lights of your home are turned off when you go out.
Leaving music or television working in your home in order to avoid robbery is sensless measure
Insulate property roofs, water deposits, piping systems.
Purchase ONLY low-energy household appliance.
Think about installing renewable energy supply.
In the Office:
Make sure that all the systems and devices are switched off when you leave the office.
Switch off your PC screen when you go out for lunch or breakfast.
If you don’t work on your PC for 3 hours at least: switch it off.
Program the heating and cooling system in the most reasonable way. Adjust its timer when hours change in spring and autumn.
Turn off the lights when you leave a room, even for a short time.
Mark all switches showing to everybody for which room or place it is to be used. That way, during week-ends and night-times, only the needed lights will be turned on.
Keep hot drinks and coffee in a Thermos flask and not in the working coffee machine.
Try to reduce paper consumption
Use recycled paper!
Buy only low-energy devices and machines.
Travelling:
Avoid travelling by plane, especially when it is a less than 500 Kms trip.
Don’t use your car in town and for short distances.
If you really have to take a car:
Stop the engine when you have to wait for more than 30 seconds
Check the pressure of the tyres. Using the correct pressure you will save up to 5% of fuel.
Avoid using the car alone. Share it with mates and friends to go to work and any other displacement.
Don’t forget: prudential and careful driving reduces consumption of fuel. Avoid high speed and sudden braking.
Uninstall the luggage rack when not used. Racks produce stronger air resistance and this means higher consumption of fuel.
Don’t heath up the engine when stopped. It heats up faster when driving, save fuel that way.
Take items out of your car when you don’t need them. 100 kilos of charge mean one added liter of fuel per 100 kilometers.
